Het seizoen van Doorn H1 laat zich lezen als een balanceer-act. Acht overwinningen, acht verliespartijen en zes keer een gelijkspel — het saldo in doelpunten bevestigt dat beeld: met 54 voor en 52 tegen bleef het verschil minimaal over 22 wedstrijden. De afsluiting was wisselvallig. Na twee thuiszeges op rij, waaronder een overtuigende 4-1 tegen Deventer, leek er momentum. Maar een uitnederlaag bij Almelo en vervolgens een 1-3 verlies in de laatste thuiswedstrijd tegen Groningen Studs zetten een grijs randje achter een verder gelijkmatig seizoen. De uitoverwinning bij Culemborg in juni — 2-3 — was daartussen een van de scherpere resultaten. Koploper Apeliotes bleef gedurende het seizoen buiten bereik; de plek in de middenmoot was voor Doorn H1 de realistische uitkomst van een campagne zonder uitschieters naar boven of naar beneden.
