De club biedt hockey op alle niveaus: van jongste jeugd tot senioren, van recreatief tot prestatief. Die breedte is geen toevalligheid — het is de kern van wat MHC wil zijn. Studenten die in Maastricht op niveau willen hockeyen zijn sterk vertegenwoordigd in de heren- en damesteams. De ambities bij bedrijfshockey, studentenhockey en leeftijdshockey groeien. De bloeiende ParaHockey-tak speelt mee in de landelijke competitie. De club draait op de kracht van vrijwilligers. Dat vrijwilligerskarakter is voelbaar in de sfeer op sportpark De Geusselt, waar MHC beschikt over vier velden — twee watervelden, een semi-waterveld en een zandveld. De club groeit, is ambitieus en hecht tegelijkertijd aan een warme clubcultuur. Die combinatie — prestatie en toegankelijkheid — tekent de identiteit van MHC in het huidige seizoen. ## Sportieve identiteit De speelstijl en speelvisie van MHC zijn aanvallend, initiatiefrijk en samenhangend. De trainer/coach van Heren 1 draagt bij aan de doorlopende leerlijn van de club: van jeugdopleiding naar seniorencompetitie. Daarmee werkt MHC bewust toe naar een interne doorstroom waarbij talent uit de eigen jeugd de weg naar de eerste elftallen vindt. ## Eerste teams Heren 1 heeft seizoen 2025/2026 omgezet in een dominante opmars. Met slechts één verlies in tweeëntwintig duels en een zegesreeks van zes wedstrijden staat het team onbetwist bovenaan in de Tweede klasse. Dik gewonnen uitwedstrijden — waaronder een 0-8 bij Hopbel en een 4-9 bij Drunen — zetten de toon. Heren 1 vertegenwoordigt het sportieve visitekaartje van MHC en promoveert naar alle waarschijnlijkheid naar de Eerste klasse. Dat is de stap waar de club dit seizoen op koerst. Dames 1 opereert een niveau hoger, in de Eerste klasse, en eindigde de reguliere competitie in de subtop. Met veertien zeges en slechts vijf nederlagen in tweeëntwintig wedstrijden hield het team zich solide staande in een poule met clubs uit de regio, waaronder Eindhoven en Rosmalen. ## Nuttig om te weten MHC is in Maastricht al decennialang de plek voor wie serieuze hockey wil combineren met een toegankelijke clubomgeving. Studenten zijn sterk vertegenwoordigd in de heren- en damesteams — de internationale studentenpopulatie van de universiteit draagt bij aan een opvallend kosmopolitisch karakter op en naast het veld. Dat heeft ook zijn weerslag gehad op de clubcultuur: MHC werkte jarenlang samen met een studentensectie die inmiddels als zelfstandige club verder is gegaan. ## Traditie en geschiedenis MHC bestaat sinds 1934, maar in Maastricht wordt al sinds 1919 in verenigingsverband gehockeyd. Een voorloper was de vereniging De Maasch, actief van 1919 tot 1926. Daarnaast heeft Maastricht ook een aparte vrouwenhockeyclub gekend, 'Carry on', die bestond van 1938 tot 1940. Die vroege wortels maken MHC tot een van de oudere hockeyverenigingen van Zuid-Nederland — een gegeven dat weinig opschepperij verdraagt, maar de club wel diepgang geeft. ## Teams (84) ### Senioren -
