## Over de club

Hockeyclub Montfoort is de hockeyvereniging van een kleine gemeente in het Utrechtse Groene Hart, ingeklemd tussen Utrecht, Woerden en Gouda. Dat geografische gegeven kleurt de club: een omgeving zonder grote stadsclubs direct naast de deur, waar Montfoort de rol van hockeythuis voor de streek op zich neemt. <cite index="22-1,22-2">De club is bij de KNHB geregistreerd met veldhockey, zaalhockey én trimhockey, en speelt haar thuiswedstrijden op het Sportpark Parklaan.</cite>

Wat de club onderscheidt in het districtslandschap is die brede toegankelijkheid. <cite index="25-1,25-2">Trimhockey is een laagdrempelige vorm van hockey voor volwassenen met weinig of geen hockeyervaring, waarbij deelnemers wekelijks samenkomen om te trainen.</cite> <cite index="25-5,25-6">Voor wie meer uitdaging zoekt, is deelname aan een competitie mogelijk — en trimhockey geldt als een belangrijk middel voor nieuwe instroom en het vasthouden van recreatieve spelers.</cite> Dat Montfoort dit aanbod naast de reguliere competitie draaiende houdt, zegt iets over de breedteambitie van de vereniging.

## Nuttig om te weten

Montfoort is geen grote stad, maar de hockeyclub deelt haar sportpark met andere verenigingen uit de gemeente. <cite index="1-2">Op het sportpark zijn naast HC Montfoort ook voetbalclub Montfoort SV'19 en een tennisvereniging gevestigd.</cite> Dat geeft het complex een dorps, multisportig karakter dat bij een club van deze omvang past. ## Traditie en geschiedenis

<cite index="1-1,1-2">HC Montfoort is een hockeyclub uit de Utrechtse plaats Montfoort, opgericht op 23 mei 1979, en deelt haar sportpark met Montfoort SV'19 en een tennisvereniging.</cite> In de ruim vier decennia die volgden groeide de club uit tot een volwaardige KNHB-vereniging met een volledig competitieaanbod voor senioren, jeugd en recreanten — een gestaag opgebouwde basis die kenmerkend is voor clubs die niet op een grote stad leunen maar hun eigen regio bedienen.
