Het complex aan het park De Warande vormt het middelpunt: vier kunstgrasvelden, waarvan drie watervelden en één zandingestrooid veld, allemaal voorzien van LED-verlichting. Dat maakt avondtraining het hele jaar door mogelijk en geeft de accommodatie een uitstraling die verder reikt dan de doorsnee Brabantse clubsetting. Wat HC Helmond onderscheidt van veel clubs in het district, is het brede inclusieve aanbod. Naast de reguliere competitie biedt de club ook parahockey — G-hockey voor spelers met een verstandelijke handicap, een discipline die inmiddels een vaste plek heeft binnen de KNHB-competities. Dat de club dit programma draait naast een volledig jeugd- en seniorenteam, zegt iets over de ambities op het gebied van toegankelijkheid. ## Eerste teams Het sportieve zwaartepunt ligt dit seizoen bij Dames 1, dat uitkomt in de Promotieklasse. In Ronde 1 van de play-offs staat Helmond op de vierde plaats in Poule B, met veertig punten uit tweeëntwintig wedstrijden. De reeks van acht duels ongeslagen — met onder meer een thuiszege op Bully en een overtuigende uitoverwinning bij Wageningen — maakt dat Helmond zich steviger heeft genesteld in het middenveld dan de stand op papier misschien suggereert. Het laatste duel, een 4-4 gelijkspel uit bij GCHC, bevestigt dat de ploeg ook tegen directe concurrenten overeind blijft. ## Nuttig om te weten Het groen-marineblauw tenue is een herkenbaar gezicht in het zuiden van het land. De club biedt naast prestatiegedreven competitie ook recreatief hockey aan, wat past bij een vereniging die nadrukkelijk kiest voor breedte naast sportieve ambitie. Voor volgers van de standen in District Zuid Nederland is Helmond een vaste naam in de bondcompetitie. ## Traditie en geschiedenis De wortels van HC Helmond reiken terug tot 1933, toen de Helmondse Mixed Hockey Club werd opgericht. In 1999 fuseerden de twee grote Helmondse hockeyclubs — HMHC en HUAC — tot de huidige vereniging, waarbij de oprichtingsdatum van HMHC behouden bleef. Beide voorlopers hadden elk hun eigen locatie en cultuur: HUAC speelde al decennia op het terrein aan De Warande, dat na de fusie de thuisbasis voor de gehele club werd. In het seizoen 2021/2022 bereikte het eerste damesteam kort de Zaal Hoofdklasse, al degradeerde de ploeg na één seizoen weer.
